The Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is the telecommunication technology development center of the Government of India. It was established in August 1984 as an autonomous body. It was given full authority and complete freedom to develop state-of-the-art telecommunication technology to meet the requirements of the Indian telecommunication network. Its main objective is to establish a center of excellence in the field of telecommunication technology.

Established in 1984, C-DOT was initially primarily tasked with designing and developing digital exchanges and facilitating their large-scale manufacturing by Indian industry. Later, in 1989, development of communication equipment was also added to its purview.
